The Muse Series: Sappho Chicago

There are certain souls who carry an unexplainable energy for healing.
The opposite of an energy vampire.
You leave them feeling more like yourself. More whole.
Often, they tell on themselves through their careers.
Nurses. Doulas. Massage therapists. Reiki practitioners. Sound healers.
I feel an instinct to protect these people from the world. A world full of both unintentional and intentional leeches; those who drain without ever giving back, leaving healers emptied of the very thing that makes them special.
But I also have a duty to share a muse who stood out to me like a sore thumb.
She walked in and immediately healed that thumb.
Meet Shakeba.
A storm of spiritual sapphism at her core.
Naturally, she gravitated toward the medical field. But beneath her technical training lives a deep reservoir of creativity.
One of her gifts is sound medicine.
I called them “singing bowls” when she first showed them to me.
These bowls do something difficult to explain. They create frequencies, each with a specific pitch, that speak to different parts of the body. It sounds crazy to say out loud until you feel it.
This frequency amplifies hers and moves through the space, carrying that unmistakable yellow aura of hers.
Let’s call it The Surge.
The surge doesn’t arrive suddenly. It builds slowly, then, all at once you feel warmth throughout your body.
Shakeba bears the crown of Sappho Chicago. And in our hearts, she embodies it.
